English has increasingly become the global lingua franca, the most spoken second language and often the standard language for international/multilingual communication: cultural and professional opportunities are tied to an understanding of English.
As an English teacher at schools, language centres, and businesses, I have seen first hand the value the English language carries and the investment many are willing to make to be among the surprisingly small group of English speakers worldwide. Meanwhile, many are kept from the necessary tools to fairly compete in an ever-globalised world.
This is my small contribution towards making the world a smaller, closer place for all.
It is also, as is everything, a learning opportunity to improve my knowledge and abilities as a teacher.
